Coming up: #ECRchat on the academic job search, 7 November 2013

The Nov 7th chat will be hosted by Claire Evans, @bookworm_29, who is an early career researcher who completed her PhD at Cardiff University in March 2013.  The chat is about ‘The academic job search’ and will aim to (1) demystify the process of applying for academic jobs and (2) generate ideas for more detailed #ECRchats on job hunting in the future.

The chat will provide you with the opportunity to discuss different aspects of the job search and will broadly cover the following themes:

  1. Types of academic jobs
  2. Where to look for academic jobs
  3. Issues ECR’s face when looking for jobs
  4. The ‘do’s and don’ts’ when making an application
  5. Unanswered questions ECRs have about the job hunt (I.e. ‘If only I knew/I wish I had known that then’)

So whether you are an ECR who is just beginning to think about looking for a job in academia and has a few questions to ask, or a more established ECR with successful job hunting advice to give, please come and join us.
